In January 2005, Doodles (Steve Gattuso) decided it would be funny to take pictures of people at Further Confusion and then post them on Something Awful for mockery purposes. Unsurprisingly, this did not go over well with his friends. Doodles later realized how stupid he had been and apologized after receiving a well-earned and much-deserved chastizing for his little stunt. It just goes to show that they think it's all FUNY AND LULZ until it affects them personally.
We hope Doodles has learned a valuable lesson from all this, but the real lesson everyone learned is that Doodles shouldn't be trusted with a camera ever again.
Xydexx suggested Something Awful Goons ought to concentrate on being funnier instead of instigating trouble at furry conventions, because if they continued to push their brand of "humor" into RL venues it would only be a matter of time before someone got hurt. The issue of Goons causing trouble instead of being funny had actually been raised by Xydexx several months earlier.
The salient clue-by-fours issued by Xydexx are highlighted for your convenience.

| C'mon, now. Who's blowing what out of proportion? Okay, so some guy drove hours and hours to pull a prank on furries and ended up making himself look like a joke instead. BFHD. You thought it was funny. Good for you. I thought it was kinda lame, myself. Not because it gives me an excuse to run around and go ZOMG FURSECUTION!!!1 like you guys always think we do, but rather because anti-furry humor is so passé at this point. It's not really funny or offensive so much as it's just tiresome. How would you react if a furry dressed up on a ghillie suit and installed half a dozen furry flags at a gooncon?Honestly, I'd think that'd be kinda lame too. I mean, what's the punchline? "Woooooooh, the scary furries are watching you!" Hide your plushies or something like that. Whoop-de-doo. If SA prides itself on being a "comedy website" so much, why are your forums so infested with puerile little dingalings? Yes, okay, fine, I'll concede there's occasionally something funny there: One of your Goons suggested attending a furry con dressed up as a Big Game Hunter, with the pith helmet and toy musket and so forth. See, I think something like that would have been funny. But, no, instead y'all keep coming up with this lameass "TEH FURRIES R PATEHTIC LET'S SEE WHAT WE CAN DO TO PISS THEM OFF HURR HURR HURR" crapulence. Enough already. You wanna make fun of furries? Fine, go ahead. We can take a joke. But please, please, please, encourage your fellow Goons to come up with material that's actually funny for a change, okay? Raise the bar over there and everyone wins: You get to weed out the puerile little dingalings from your forums, and we get some quality humor from you guys for a change. Think about it, seriously. Because if y'all insist on continuing to come to furry conventions with the intent of causing problems and annoying people, I really do think it's only a matter of time before somebody ends up getting hurt. SUMMARY
Many of these so-called "humor" websites suffer from a lack of funny material. They think if a joke is funny one time, then repeating it 1000 times makes it 1000 times as funny. They endlessly parrot and recycle material, to the point that they aren't funny or offensive, just tiresome.
Folks like Squnq and Triggur claim the source of amusement for Goons comes from our alleged reaction to their antics... they imagine we get angry about it or something. I dunno, pretty much the only reaction I've had to their antics for years now has been an exhausted sigh and an eyeroll and wondering when they'd come up with jokes that were actually funny.
The inability to come up with new material is apparently a problem for other websites besides Something Awful (i.e., i-Mockery came up with an ever-so-original "Geek Hierarchy" in 2008, while trying to figure out what they could do to prevent their forums from becoming another 4chan/YTMND clone). But that's a discussion for another place and time.
